findingthemojo no 4

Hello again

What a heat wave we're having! - it was 42 degs on our stoep at 6pm last evening and we were having a braai - just crazy! To cool things a little, the fan was brought outside and switched on full-blast (and here's the tip of the week...) - it kept the flies off the food as well, worked a charm, thanks Miss K.

It's at this time of year that I always wonder when I will ever put on a pair of jeans, a jersey or wear socks again .......

To market to market

Lovely ladies: Heather and Patience
On Friday evening, we whipped (it's small) through the youmeandeveryoneweknow market @ the Labia on Orange.

Some interesting clothes, but not much else - a good place to hang out after work with lots of lovely ladies milling around, trying on bits and pieces.  Bargains?  not too sure.......

On Saturday am, wandered down to the first Fringe Handmade Creative Goods Market (www.thefringe.org.za) of 2012, to be held on the 1st Saturday of every month from now onwards.  In amongst the usual 'bead brigade' are some beautiful jewellery stalls and worthwhile, clever products like

Isaac of Amari jewellery design

-  Gina Levy's lingo fridge magnets (with a purpose) - www.translatesa.co.za
-  township's gorgeous prints made up into bags, bandanas etc - www.township.co.za
-  afrosol's pretty parasols - www.afrosol.co.za
-  trek's funky wristbands - www.treksurvivalgear.co.za

Mosaics & street wear outside Charly's

This market has real potential:  great venue, slap bang in front of Charly's Bakery (which was doing a roaring trade in spite of the heat!), just down the road from Fruit & Veg, in Town.

PS  On the opposite side of Caledon Road, Woodheads are selling very comfy SA-made slops for R65 per pair.

Cheers
jp
