Hello - and what are your weekend plans?  No Jazz Fest tickets, not taking part in the Epic race, not attending the KKNK fees....... here are a couple of outdoorsy ideas, while the weather lasts

  • get to The V & A Waterfront Amphitheatre on Sat 29 March at 7pm where the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing a free candlelight concert in aid of Earth Hour (remember to switch off all lights betw 8:30 - 9:30pm)

  • on Sunday 30 March, get to Kirstenbosch to see the lovely Lira, the second last Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concert of the season.  Gates open at 4pm - take warm clothes and wine, lovely!

  • exciting news re the new Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) at the V & A Waterfront, due to be launched in 2016. "While the silos undergo the three year transformation, visit the Zeitz MOCAA Pavillion, located near the Bascule Bridge, where art exhibitions will be on display. The Pavillion is open 12pm to 8 PM, every Wednesday to Sunday, and entry is FREE"

  • go and have some fun and watch some sexy moves, get to Mavericks on Friday 7 March for the first heat of the Pole Dancing Championships (better still, sign-up to do your thing there)

  • the Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concert at Kirstenbosch  this Sunday, 9 March, will feature Hugh Masekela.  Starting at 17:30 - 19:00, best to get there early to book a spot, gates open @ 4pm - classic afrojazz!

Morning - tried two eateries recently and both were really good

  • Orinoco, on the corner of Prestwich and Bree St, serves up delicious and authentic Latin American fare - specials on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, yummy fajitas!




  • on the Main Road in Hout Bay, is Cheynes (pronounced Shanes), quiet delicious pacific rim flavours, tapas-style/perfect-for-sharing (or not) menu - try the pork belly, aubergine tempura, sticky duck etc etc
