A rare day it is today - 29 Feb 2012
- Did you notice the double google doodle today, celebrating Rossini's 220th birthday as well as the leap year? Had to check on the leaping frogs ref - the four amphibians (only one leaping) are performing in The Barber of Seville - one of Rossini's most famous comic operas.
- Another interesting fact: this is only the third leap year google doodle, the others being in 2004 and 2008 - there was apparently no doodle in the 2000 leap year.
- And more: the first google doodle was created in 1998 by the google doodle team to mark the celebrations of the Burning Man Festival in that year - seems they were all out of the office @ the festival on that day.
- Lastly: leapers or leaplings is the name given to those people born on 29 Feb
Interesting things every day....
cheers
