Hello hello and a fab Friday it is

Lovely Autumn days - enjoy this glorious weather while it lasts

  • Saturday suggestion after the shopping and the beach:  The Fugard Theatre hosts a double launch of albums, singer, saxophonist and percussionist Gavin Minter promotes My Return to Paradise and Fender-endorsed rock and blues guitarist Natasha Meister promotes Half Way featuring guest Dan Shout on saxophone.  Starts at 20:15 and tickets cost R100

  • Sunday should be cooler, perfect for an early walk/hike up our lovely mountain, then brunch in Hout Bay/Kalk Bay - anywhere with a view of the sea.  So good for the mind, body and soul

Enjoy your weekend break

Hi there

  • The Taste of Cape Town Food Festival opens at the Greenpoint Cricket Club @ 18:30 this pm, through until 22 April. Don't go there hungry (or it will be an expensive meal) but do go there for the delicious 'tastes', fun vibe, people watching and free wine-tasting, yum!  For all the details/info go to www.tasteofcapetown.com
  • On the subject of festivals:  check out the programme for the up-coming Franschhoek Literary Festival on www.flf.co.za to be held from 11 - 13 May in Franschhoek.  Book early or you will be disappointed.

Morning

  • Paid a visit to a few galleries in the Woodstock area yesterday and sadly, saw nothing to report back on.  Also popped into the AVA and Church St Gallery on our way back and again, was uninspired ...... is it this the start of the Cape's Winter dreariness??  Hope not!
  • Grabbed a plate of salad at The Kitchen, while in Woodstock and it's still great!  Delicious variety of interesting food, friendly busy CT vibe and good value.  Karen Dudley's new book, titled The Kitchen is out now in the book stores.  Fabulous presentation, featuring The Kitchen team, the extended family, regulars to the shop and all the CT people you know - makes a lovely gift.

Hello

  • Managed to get tickets for the final performance of Brothers in Blood at the Artscape Theatre on Saturday evening and really pleased we did.  Excellent play that every South African should see, highlighting the complexity of our rainbow nation and reminding us that only tolerance and understanding can fight the scourge of prejudice.
  • Mildly disappointed by the 'Hunger Games' phenomena but then, wasn't really expecting much. The large section of the movie audience (mainly 'boppers') seemed to be transfixed!  The good thing is that the books have got people reading again.

Merry Monday morning

  • Definite cool Autumn breeze in the air, time to get down to those cool Autumn projects and start ticking that 'to do' list - just a suggestion.....
  • Here's a classic quote for your week:  "Nana Mouskouri sang in 13 different languages, and looked ridiculous in all of them.  It's that kind of bravery which makes childbirth possible." Victoria Coren in The Observer

Greetings - yes, it's a weird kinda day out there, hot dry blustery!

Just has to be a Friday the 13th kinda day......  so some good luck stories are in order

  • What's for sure is we are lucky to have such a sophisticated banking system in this country of ours.  If you are careful and keep all the checks in place and balances up-to-date, online banking is fantastic!  It really works fast!

  • It's the weekend honeys! and here's the (we are so lucky) great thing, eating out in this place is still really good value. Reminder:  we have a huge choice of eating venues and amazing selection of different cooking styles and menus - just take your pick (try somewhere new!)

  • Pick of the weekend activities:  Saturday night is last occasion to see Blood Brothers at Artscape Theatre.  Book through www.artscape.co.za or phone 021 421 7839 Tickets R85.

Enjoy the break

Hello - what a day! if you were to drive along the Atlantic Seaboard strip you would honestly think this was December!

  • Camps Bay Beach is already packed with sun-worshippers, bats players and relaxed types licking their ice-creams, just people watching, it's amazing!  The late breakfast/brunch takers are out in full-force, enjoying this heavenly day.  Masses of tourists wandering around, managing to ignore all the construction chaos going on along the beach road - how lovely it is to be on holiday!

  • While on the topic of road works:  been caught behind a red 'hop-on-hop-off' bus on the busy Kloof Nek/Camps Bay Drive Roads yet? then you'll know how frustrating it can be......  We await, with trepidation,  the soon to be installed MyCiti bus service in this part of the world.  Delays and traffic chaos in the HOT late afternoon sun, is my prediction.  When the time comes, try to chill and just enjoy the view, it is stunning out there!

Morning all

  • Recently read that in the UK, one in three of their eight million dogs are obese - what a frightening statistic and what shameful dog-owners!

  • Nearly as bad as the parents of fat children (all over the world......) - talk about quietly killing those you love the most...... have never understood that? Unforgivable!
It really is a lovely day out there, get some exercise

Hello again

Trust you had a wonderful Easter weekend with lots of warming friends, family and feasts

  • Here in the Cape, it was wet wet wet! a little way up the coast where it has been extremely dry, it rained like crazy and the Walker Bay residents were thrilled that there was some respite from the drought conditions they have been experiencing for months now.  Holiday makers to the Cape - not so much!  Sorry man!

  • Running the Two Oceans in the rain was not great, we hear.  Not only did it bucket down for virtually the entire race but walking the first two kilometres of the Half could not have been fun....... Limit the numbers or stagger the start guys!  Jammer nogtans!

Hello a lovely long weekend ahead

  • If you're not taking part in the "World's Most Beautiful Marathon" then the suggestion is that you get out of Town fast! and only return on Monday evening, late! (take care on the road)
  • If that's not going to work for you, cook-up a huge pot of soup, make sure the wine cupboard is stocked, bring in some great DVD's you've been meaning to see for ages, invite some company and hunker down - it's going to be a wet wet wet one
Enjoy, either way and speak to you next week
cheers

thks to Woolies for the pic

Morning

No internet connection last evening, so irritating..... another day, another way

  • Can't believe the absolute nonsense surrounding hot cross buns, right now - religious fanatics honestly can't have anything better to do with their lives...petty petty bored people!  Siestog!  Tolerance and respect people...

  • Reason for the rave is that Easter is upon us and these buns are such a pain to make - takes forever!  The family take it for granted that spicy buns will around.  Oh and those chocolate eggs that no one eats, also a must have....... need to make a plan fast!

running out of here, fast
cheers
