Morning
1st of Feb 2012, in this leap-year month - it's going to be interesting.
Coming out of a period of mourning re the cancellation of the Affordable Art Indaba - Art Circus, meant to have taken place in March at the Zip Zap Marquee, with the realisation that "if it's too hard, then it's not meant to be". The best advice I've had is to remain open to the next adventure and that's the thought I'm going with. Thank you to all the OwnArt supporters, can't tell you how much I appreciate your encouragement.
Feeling upbeat about another smaller project: little steps, so watch this space!
Do go and see In Bloom II at the Casa Labia Cultural Centre in Muizenberg, in collaboration with Africa Nova
It's on until 29 February 2012, and really such an exciting exhibition of (botanical) works of art.
Particularly liked Suzanne Duncan's Veil (created out of Protea leaf skeletons and human hair); Judy Bumstead's Luminous from a Distance; Willemien de Villiers's Turquoise Spring; Rebecca Jones's delicate paper & wire work; Kurt Pio and Jason Weyness's Untitled, and Farhat Iqbal's exquisitely detailed work, just beautiful!
One needs to go back and do a 'kyk weer' - think one misses a lot on the first visit.
Entry is free and lunch in the lovely courtyard is recommended.
- Had a delicious supper at La Mouette in Sea Point, a short while back
Divine food: the Crispy Thai Beef Salad was perfect!
Great service: none of that heavy hovering, over-the-top theatrical pandering or false haughtiness, just down stated, discreet attention.
Characterful venue - sit on the stoep or out in the open, either way there's no doubt you're in Sea Point with Checkers 'looming large', through the trees: a reminder that the unique CT seediness is always just around the corner or in this case, across the road - love it!
Two items for your two minute break
Have a great day
Cheers
